The Hope Leadership Academy (HLA) program provides academic assistance, character development and skill building exercises for kindergarten through eighth grade students who live in the community of Antioch, Tennessee.
Available Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. during the academic year, HLA offers tutoring, computer-based literacy learning, life-skill training and mentorships. Additionally, we supplement academic learning with recreational activities that include the performing arts, field trips and sports.
Why HLA After-School Program Matters
The majority of juvenile crimes are committed between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays. During the same hours, youth are victims of crime more than any other time during the day. Unsupervised youth are more likely to: use alcohol, drugs and tobacco; receive poor grades, skip school or drop out of school; engage in risky sexual activity; carry and use weapons.
