Hope Leadership Academy is Stronger than My Father signature after-school program that provides a continuum of services from Pre-K through 5th grade. The primary goal of Hope Leadership Academy is to prepare students during their formative years to succeed in life by providing academic assistance, character development, social skills, emotional guidance, and spiritual enrichment. During the school year, Hope Leadership Academy serves up to 120 students through computer-based literacy, faith-based instruction, life skills and mentoring relationships.
A unique trait of Hope Leadership Academy is the offering of individualized literacy tutoring that targets students who fall behind academically. A specially trained literacy intervention coach spends 15-20 minutes per day with students, providing one-on-one coaching until their reading level reaches that of other students in the class.)
Available Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. during the academic year, HLA offers tutoring, computer-based literacy learning, life-skill training and mentorships. Additionally, we supplement academic learning with recreational activities that include the performing arts, field trips and sports.

Why HLA After-School Program Matters
The majority of juvenile crimes are committed between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays. During the same hours, youth are victims of crime more than any other time during the day. Unsupervised youth are more likely to: use alcohol, drugs and tobacco; receive poor grades, skip school or drop out of school; engage in risky sexual activity; carry and use weapons.
