On Saturday, October 5th, our Stronger Sons Mentoring Program participated in a meaningful service project at The Sensory Garden for the Blind, an incredible space designed to engage and stimulate all five senses, providing a unique experience for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. This project was a fantastic opportunity for our young men to give back to the community while learning about the importance of service and teamwork.
During the project, our boys worked diligently to create beautiful stepping stones that will enhance the garden’s pathways. They poured their creativity and effort into this task, knowing that these stepping stones would be enjoyed by future visitors. Additionally, they spread fresh pine straw throughout the main garden area, ensuring it remains a welcoming and accessible environment for those who visit.
We want to extend a special thanks to Chuck Wells for providing this amazing opportunity. His leadership and dedication to The Sensory Garden allowed our participants to understand the value of helping others and the impact their service can have on the community.
We also want to give heartfelt thanks to our Stronger Sons volunteer mentors who were there to guide and support the boys throughout the day. Their commitment to mentoring and serving alongside the young men is truly invaluable and reinforces the values of teamwork and leadership that we strive to instill in our program.
This service project not only taught our mentees valuable lessons in community service but also reinforced the core values we seek to instill in each of them—responsibility, leadership, and compassion. We are proud of the work they accomplished and look forward to more opportunities for them to continue serving and growing.
Thank you again to everyone who made this project possible, and we are excited about future service opportunities where our boys can continue making a difference!
